Windows won't boot up

Postby gd253 » 17 Jul 2010, 09:32

I just had an annoying Windows XP Pro problem, it wouldn't boot up. It was stuck on the windowpane part of the bootup sequence. I shut down several times, tried to reboot and it still wouldn't get past that screen. I haven't come across this problem before.

Luckily I'd listened to TTR talking about backups a couple of weeks ago and after the show I bought Avanquest Drive Image (I usually use Ghost) and immediately did a backup of everything. I restored an image last night and it worked a treat.

So thanks guys for the timely reminder!! Everyone, make sure you do your backups!

Glad you had your backups done GD!

Did you try to boot into Safe Mode? Hit F8 for a boot menu just before that 'Windows loading...' screen.
